From Temporary Impact to Lasting Legacy: The Future of Sustainable Workflows
By Anthony Meirlaen
The True Test of a Lasting Process
Story time: A friend once led social media management and internal communications at her previous job. Thanks to her vision, the visuals were stunning, communication was clear, and engagement soared.
But when she moved on to new opportunities, the cohesion unraveled. The tools she used remained, but the core knowledge—the how and why—wasn’t transferred into a repeatable process. Without her, no one knew how to keep it going or adapt it.
This is a classic challenge of processes that are too person-dependent. When that key person leaves, the magic goes with them.
But here’s the exciting part: with the rise of AI assistants and enhanced collaborative tools, we have the chance to capture and transfer knowledge in new ways. Processes can be built to be sustainable, easy to modify, and maintainable by those without the original creator’s expertise.
As we navigate this new era, let’s focus on creating processes that are:
- Clearly documented.
- Rich with foundational knowledge.
- Resilient and adaptable over time.
These are principles I’m deeply committed to in my work today and with the products we are building.
Our goal? Ensure the impact we create isn’t just temporary, but lasting.
P.S. The friend knows who she is 😉
