Generative Visualizations: Unlocking Dynamic UIs with LLMs

Building a unique experience 🔧

Our team has been experimenting with generative UI components and on-demand visualizations. Why? Because we have a lot of different objectives. Whether we’re trying to sell, inform, delight, or engage, our approach changes depending on whether we’re speaking to a new lead, a returning customer, or an advocate. And if you know your math, that means a lot of different UI needs!

Here's where we are in our journey:
- We're building an initial set of modular UI components upfront.
- Using LLMs (Large Language Models) to generate dynamic input props for these components.
- We’re evaluating approaches for the next step: generating custom UI props/data per user OR letting the LLM select from a pre-approved set of components. Maybe even letting the LLM build the entire component itself.

💡 This is raising questions about the scalability and effectiveness of hyper-personalization. Is it worth building complexity? How can we ensure each UI variation resonates with its intended audience? How can you ensure safety and quality when building these dynamic components?

If anyone has recommendations—research papers, articles, or insights—on the impact and effectiveness of hyper-personalization, but also on the technical architecture behind it. I’d love to hear from you!
